Customer Questions & Answers for
Primus Primus MicronLantern

A compact, unbreakable outdoor lantern with integrated piezo ignition. Tiny but powerful, this light cranks out variable light intensity up to 70 watts. The steel mesh globe can take the rough and tough handling of the backcountry and it is incredibly light. The patented burner design means that this lantern burns almost silently and has a very low rate of gas consumption.

Yes I use MSR fuel for both my Primus Lantern and my Snow Peak stove because it's the easiest fuel to find here. but in the winter when I switch to my primus liquid fuel stove I carry the Jetsol 100g canister for just the lantern because the tiny 100g can fits so nicely in my ski pack

companies recommend only using their brand of canister, scary scary reasons why, but really they only want you to buy their product again and again. research around and find the name of the fuel inside the canisters you use, not the product name, or trademarked name. propane, butane, and mixes thereof.
dont believe the hype.

Question

Can you hang it in a tent?

Just wondering if it would be a bad idea to hang this in a tent, and how much heat it would provide. Would it be enough to dry the tent and some clothing? Would it be a terrible idea to burn it while sleeping? Thanks

Burning ANYTHING inside a tent is a BAD IDEA, especially when sleeping. 1) As was already mentioned, ignition sources and synthetic materials (ie. tents) are not good combinations! 2) Remember, when something burns it consumes oxygen. Although tents are (obviously) not airtight, having something consume your oxygen supply faster than it can be replenished, while you are sleeping and pumping out CO2, is not a good idea. As far as I know, the only safe heaters inside a tent are chemical (ie. hand/foot warmers) and/or electric. Hope this helps.

The replacement mantles for this lantern, the Primus Micron Lantern is the Primus Lantern Mantles, product number 4011-659. Those mantles also work for the Primus Easy Light Lantern and the Primus Trekk Lite Lantern.

Depending on temperature and elevation the lantern will burn approximately 6 - 12 hrs. on 220g fuel canister; 12 - 24 hrs. on a 450g canister excluding your meals.

Always depending on the temperature and elevation the small canister contains 225g of fuel and boils about 15L of water and the bigger one will boil double so 30L.

Sorry, we don't carry any replacement Piezo's, and the steel stove ignition lighter will not be compatible with the Primus lantern.

I would recommend returning the lantern to a local store for an exchange/refund, if that's possible. You can also contact the service centre to make any additional inquiries about returning/exchanging the lantern through the mail.
