This stirrup allows you to re-board righted kayaks using leg strength – handy for those who are tired; vital for those with limited upper body strength, and essential for anyone looking after other paddlers. Once attached, it creates a step to lift you into the re-entry position.
Will this North Water Rescue Stirrup work just as well with a canoe??

on North Water Rescue Stirrup
The Northwater rescue stirrup is meant for kayak rescues and kayaks sit much lower in the water than a canoe and the rescue stirrup is meant to be used with a kayak paddle outrigger with a paddle float and rapped around the cockpit coaming of a kayak, which is not possible with a canoe. It may be possible to rig some sort of system to use the stirrup to step up and into a canoe that is counter balanced or braced but you would need to experiment a bit to make it work
