For the 2012/13 season, Dynafit has updated the TLT Radical ST and FT binding brakes by making them unremovable. Until last year, they used a retainer clip which allowed users to remove the brakes while the binding was mounted on the skis. Now, the retainer clip has been eliminated and the brake wraps around the heel unit, preventing any brake swap while mounted since the heel post is in the way. This was done to allow Dynafit to get TUV certification in Europe and prevent some cases of brakes falling off during touring. While it is still technically possible to removed the brakes, it has become significantly harder. The ski techs at the Vancouver store actually don't recommend doing this due to tight the retaining nut is loctited in place.- More information on this can be viewed at wildsnow.com: http://www.wildsnow.com/8470/radica...
Instead, base plates with different brakes widths are offered to swap brake sizes if needed. The heel unit will need to be swap from the older base plate to the newer one.
