The MEC Bricole Jacket is a shell and will not provide much, if any, warmth. It should be worn with a warm mid-layer.

Clothing, in general, does not have temperature ratings as there are many factors involved in how warm you will feel in a garment. Factors include how well fed and hydrated you are, the physical exertion occurring, and the fitness of the wearer.

Question

How breathable and how durable is this jacket, compared to the Backbeyond Jacket?

The main difference in waterproof-breathable technology between the Bricole and the Backbeyond is that the Backbeyond uses GORE-TEX and the Bricole uses Pertex Shield.
Pertex shield is still waterproof and breathable however it is not as technical a fabric as the GORE-TEX, therefore it may be slightly less breathable or durable than the GORE-TEX technology.

I hope you find this helpful.

Thank you for your question!

Question

Is it safe to use resolve or oxi- clean on the Bricole jacket?

It is not recommended to use Oxi-clean or Resolve, or any other stain remover for that matter, on a waterproof breathable fabric as it will damage the water repellent finish. To remove stains, dampen the stain and rub the area with a mild detergent or technical wash (such as Grangers or Nikwax). Then wash the jacket in warm water with liquid detergent or a tech wash. After washing, a re-waterproofer may be required.
